The job search report
A week after I was given notice, a colleague from my Banc of America Specialist days was also laid off. I don’t know too many people in the company, but if 2 of us are out, things are definitely bad and anyone whose assignment is ending must be very nervous right now.
I had an interview for a contract in New York last Friday. It went well enough that the woman who interviewed me recommended me for a follow up with a colleague of hers. Unfortunately, that person is in Chicago on business all week and I don’t know if she will do the interview by phone. If not, I will have to wait until next week.
Also on Friday, I had a telephone interview for a job in Chicago. I confess to being very suspicious about the company though, as I really didn’t like the people I spoke with. I certainly won’t be bothered if nothing comes of that!
I have also had contacts with people in San Francisco and Amsterdam, with the latter showing some possibilities. They want to find out if ING have a role that fits me. Just before I came back to New York a tad under 3 years ago, I had been offered a contract with ING in Den Haag, but turned it down to come back here. If I am going to live anywhere other than London or New York, Amsterdam would have to be my first choice. It is an amazing city and the people are absolutely the coolest and friendliest I have ever met. I will write a follow up when I have something worth writing about.
