Thought for the day (sub-titled: A good reason why you need to think for yourselves)
Picture a caveman.
The image that comes into your mind will be of a squat, short legged, stocky bodied, broad shouldered man with a strong jaw, an overhanging forehead and bushy eyebrows. It’s fine for us to think this. There is skeletal proof that this (perhaps not the eyebrows) is what they looked like. But there is another thing that comes into your mind:
He is clean shaven!
This is the picture we are fed over and over again, and it makes no logical sense whatsoever! Evolution-wise, he was closer to Apes than we are, so would have been more hairy than we are. What did he shave with? Is this evidence of time travel? Did someone go back in time with a few million Gillette razors and some shaving foam?
By itself, this is not a big deal. Certainly not as big as a man born in the Middle East a little over 2,000 years ago being depicted as having fair skin! If you try hard enough, you can probably come up with other widely accepted images that make no sense. The moral of this post? Think for yourselves!
